Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply online before travel
Apply for a Chad eVisa at e-visa.td at least 2 weeks before departure. The portal accepts passport scans, a digital photo, and payment by credit card. Processing takes 3–7 business days — do not book non-refundable flights until you receive the approval email.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of stay
Your Ukrainian passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Chad. Carry at least two blank visa pages — the immigration officer stamps entry and exit on separate pages.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Chad
Immigration at N'Djamena International Airport checks for a confirmed onward or return ticket before granting entry. A printed itinerary or e-ticket showing your flight out of Chad works — have it ready with your passport.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Border officers may ask for a hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Chad. A printed booking confirmation from Booking.com or a signed letter with the host's contact details covers this.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Carry cash (euros or US dollars) or a bank statement showing at least $200 per day of your stay. ATMs are scarce outside N'Djamena, and credit cards are rarely accepted — bring enough cash for your entire trip.Recommended
Vaccination required
You must have a yellow fever vaccination certificate to enter Chad. Without it, you may be denied entry or forced to get vaccinated at the airport (if available).
Currency and cash
Chad uses the Central African CFA franc (XAF). Credit cards are rarely accepted outside major hotels. Bring enough euros or US dollars to exchange at the airport or a bank.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the e-Visa online
Go to the official Chad e-Visa website (e-visa.td). Fill in your personal and passport details, upload a passport-style photo, and pay the fee. Processing usually takes 5–10 business days, sometimes longer. Apply at least 3 weeks before your trip.
2
Print your visa approval
Once approved, you'll receive a PDF. Print it out — you'll need to show it at check-in and upon arrival in Chad. Save a digital copy on your phone as backup.
3
Arrive at N'Djamena International Airport
Most flights land at N'Djamena (NDJ). After deplaning, follow signs to 'Immigration'. Join the queue for foreign passports. Have your passport, printed visa approval, return ticket, and accommodation confirmation ready. The officer will stamp you in — expect a brief look at your documents.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After immigration, head to baggage claim. Then proceed to customs — usually a quick bag scan. You're free to exit into the arrivals hall.
