Ugandan passport holders need an eVisa to enter Cameroon. Apply online before you travel. As of 2026, this is the only way to get a visa for tourism or business.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Required for Uganda passport holders
Apply for a Cameroon eVisa at the official portal before departure. The eVisa is valid for a single entry and must be used within 90 days of issuance. Processing takes 3–5 business days, so apply at least a week before your flight.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover your entire stay
Your Uganda passport needs at least one blank page for the entry stamp. Cameroon does not require 6 months of validity beyond your departure date, but airlines may enforce it — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration officers at Yaoundé and Douala airports routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or a ticket to your next destination ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Recommended to carry
Hotel bookings or an invitation letter from a host in Cameroon can smooth your arrival. Officers rarely demand it, but having a reservation confirmation avoids delays.Recommended
Proof of funds
Recommended to carry
Carry evidence of sufficient funds for your stay — a bank statement or cash equivalent to at least 100,000 XAF (about $165 USD) per day. Officers seldom ask, but it helps if questioned.Recommended
eVisa is mandatory — no visa on arrival
Ugandan passport holders cannot get a visa at the airport. You must apply and receive approval online before you travel. Airlines may deny boarding without proof of an approved eVisa.
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you land in Cameroon, not from your departure date. Double-check before you apply for the eVisa.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for eVisa online
Go to the official Cameroon eVisa website. Fill in your details, upload a passport photo and a copy of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around $100-150 depending on processing speed). You'll receive approval by email within a few days.
2
Print or save eVisa approval
Once approved, print the eVisa confirmation or save a clear PDF on your phone. You'll show this at immigration on arrival.
3
Arrive at Yaoundé or Douala airport
Most flights land at Yaoundé Nsimalen International Airport or Douala International Airport. Follow signs to 'Immigration' or 'Visa on Arrival' — but you already have your eVisa, so go to the regular passport control queue.
4
Present documents at passport control
Hand over your passport, eVisa approval, and return ticket. The officer will check your passport validity and stamp you in. Keep your accommodation address handy in case they ask.
5
Collect luggage and exit
After passport control, collect your bags from the carousel. Then proceed through customs (usually a green channel for nothing to declare). You're in Cameroon.
