Ugandan passport holders need a visa to enter Cyprus. Apply at a Cypriot embassy or consulate before you travel. This rule stays in effect for 2026.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Visa application
Schengen visa required
Apply for a Schengen visa at the Cyprus embassy or consulate in your home country. The visa allows you to stay up to 90 days within any 180-day period across the entire Schengen zone, not just Cyprus. Submit your application at least 15 days before travel, and expect processing to take up to 15 calendar days.Apply for visaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 3 months beyond your planned departure from Cyprus
Your passport must have at least two blank pages for entry and exit stamps. Cyprus enforces the 3-month validity rule strictly — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for visa application and at border control
You need a confirmed return or onward ticket to a non-Schengen country. Immigration officers at Larnaca and Paphos airports check this for all visa-required nationals. A bus or ferry ticket does not count — only airline tickets are accepted.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Cyprus. Immigration may ask to see it during the visa interview or at the border. A simple booking confirmation email is sufficient.Recommended
Proof of funds
Bank statements or cash
Show you have at least €50 per day of your stay in Cyprus. Bank statements from the last 3 months or a credit card with sufficient limit work. Immigration rarely asks, but the visa officer will check this during the application process.Recommended
Apply early — no visa on arrival
Cyprus does not offer visa on arrival for Ugandan passport holders. You must get a visa from an embassy before you travel. Start the process at least 4 weeks ahead.
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for 6 months from the day you land in Cyprus, not from your departure date. If your passport expires sooner, renew it first.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for a visa at the embassy
Contact the Cypriot embassy or consulate in your country (or the nearest one if none in Uganda). Submit the visa application form, your passport, passport photos, flight itinerary, accommodation proof, and any other documents they request. Processing takes 2–4 weeks, so apply well in advance.
2
Prepare your documents for travel
Once your visa is approved, print a copy of the visa approval letter (if issued separately) and keep it with your passport. Also save digital copies of your flight booking, hotel confirmation, and insurance on your phone.
3
Arrive at Larnaca or Paphos airport
When you land, head to the immigration queue for non-EU passports. Have your passport with visa, return ticket, and accommodation proof ready. The officer may ask about your plans and how long you're staying. Answer clearly and briefly.
