Ugandan passport holders must get an eVisa before traveling to Gabon. The entire application is online, and you'll need to show the approval email at the airport in Libreville. As of 2026, this is the only way to obtain a visa for tourism or business.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for a Gabon eVisa at evisa.gouv.ga before you fly. Processing takes 3–5 business days, so don't leave it until the last minute. Print the approval email and carry it with your passport — immigration at Libreville will ask to see it.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must have 6 months validity beyond your stay
Your Ugandan passport needs at least 6 months of remaining validity from your date of entry into Gabon. Airlines at Entebbe check this before they let you board — no exceptions.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Gabon immigration officers routinely ask for proof of a return or onward flight. Have a printed itinerary or an e-ticket ready — a phone screenshot works, but a paper copy is safer if your battery dies.Required
Proof of accommodation
Recommended to carry
Hotel booking confirmations or an invitation letter from a host in Gabon can speed things up at the border. Immigration rarely asks, but having it ready avoids delays.Recommended
Proof of funds
Recommended to carry
Carry evidence of sufficient funds — a bank statement or credit card showing at least $500 USD equivalent. Gabon doesn't strictly enforce this, but it helps if questioned about your ability to support yourself.Recommended
Yellow fever vaccine required
You must show a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate (yellow card) at immigration. Without it, you may be denied entry or forced to get vaccinated at the airport at your own expense. Get the shot at least 10 days before you travel.
eVisa processing time
Apply at least 2 weeks before departure. Processing can take up to 7 business days, and the Gabon eVisa website sometimes has glitches. If you don't receive the approval email within 5 days, check your spam folder and contact the embassy.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for eVisa online
Go to evisa.gouv.ga, fill in the application form, upload a passport photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (about 70,000 XAF, roughly $115 USD) by credit card. Processing takes 3–7 business days. You'll receive an approval email with a PDF attachment.
2
Print your eVisa and pack documents
Print the eVisa approval email. Also print or save offline: your return flight booking, hotel confirmation, and passport copy. Keep them together in a folder.
3
Arrive at Libreville Leon Mba International Airport
After landing, follow signs to 'Immigration' or 'Passport Control'. Join the queue for foreign passports. Hand over your passport, eVisa printout, and return ticket. The officer may ask your hotel address — have it ready. They'll stamp your passport and let you through. The whole process usually takes 15–30 minutes.
4
Collect luggage and exit
After immigration, go to baggage claim, then customs. There's usually no customs check for personal luggage. Exit into the arrivals hall where taxis and hotel drivers wait.
