Apply early — processing takes months
Irish visa processing from Uganda can take 8–12 weeks. Apply at least 3 months before your trip to avoid last-minute stress.

What happens at the border

1
Apply online
Go to the Irish visa website (visas.inis.gov.ie) and fill out the online application form. Select Uganda as your country of residence. You'll get a summary sheet to print.
2
Book an appointment
After submitting online, book an appointment at the Irish visa application centre in Kampala. Walk-ins are not accepted. Appointments can fill up, so book early.
3
Attend the appointment
Bring your printed application, passport, photos, supporting documents, and the visa fee. You'll give biometrics (fingerprints and photo). The centre is at 3rd Floor, Jubilee House, Plot 14, Parliament Avenue, Kampala.
4
Wait for processing
Standard processing takes 8–12 weeks. You can track your application online. If approved, your passport will be returned with the visa sticker.
5
Arrive in Ireland
At Dublin Airport (or other ports of entry), go to the 'Non-EU' queue. Hand over your passport with the visa. The officer may ask about your trip, accommodation, and return ticket. Answer honestly.
