Ugandan passport holders need an eVisa to enter Kyrgyzstan. You apply entirely online before you travel, and the process is straightforward if you have your documents ready. As of 2026, this is the only way to get a visa for tourism or short visits.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply online before travel
You need an eVisa to enter Kyrgyzstan. Apply at evisa.e-gov.kg — the official government portal. Processing takes 3–5 business days, and you'll receive the approved visa by email. Print two copies: one for the airline check-in counter and one for border control at Manas International Airport.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for entire stay
Your Ugandan passport must be valid for the full duration of your stay in Kyrgyzstan. Kyrgyzstan does not enforce a strict 6-month validity rule, but airlines sometimes ask for it — check with your carrier before departure.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Kyrgyzstan
Immigration officers at Manas International Airport routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket. Have a printed copy or a digital version on your phone ready. If you're flying out to a third country, that ticket also counts.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Border officials may ask where you're staying. Have a hotel confirmation, hostel booking, or a letter from your host with their address and contact number. A screenshot of your booking app works fine.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can cover your stay
Carry a bank statement or a credit card showing you have enough money for your trip. Kyrgyzstan doesn't publish a fixed minimum, but around $50 per day is a safe benchmark. Immigration rarely checks this, but having it ready avoids delays.Recommended
eVisa is the only option
Ugandan passport holders cannot get a visa on arrival in Kyrgyzstan. You must apply and receive approval online before you travel. No exceptions.
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you arrive in Kyrgyzstan, not from when you apply for the eVisa. If it expires sooner, renew it first.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to https://evisa.e-gov.kg/ and fill out the application. You'll need your passport details, a digital photo, and your travel dates. Pay the fee online. Processing usually takes 3-5 business days, but apply at least a week before your flight.
2
Wait for approval and print confirmation
Once approved, you'll receive an email with your eVisa. Print a copy and also save the PDF on your phone. Keep it with your passport.
3
Prepare your documents for travel
Before heading to the airport, gather: passport (6+ months validity), eVisa printout, return ticket, and first night accommodation confirmation. Screenshot everything on your phone as backup.
4
Arrive at Manas International Airport (Bishkek)
At immigration, present your passport and eVisa. The officer may ask for your return ticket and accommodation. Answer clearly and calmly. The process is usually quick — 10-15 minutes if your documents are in order.
5
Collect your luggage and exit
After passport control, collect your bags from the carousel. There are ATMs and SIM card kiosks in the arrivals hall if you need local currency or a local number.
