Rwanda entry requirements for Uganda passport holders
Ugandan passport holders can enter Rwanda without a visa for up to 180 days per visit. This visa-free arrangement has been in place since 2024 and makes travel between the two countries straightforward. Just make sure your passport is valid for at least six months from your arrival date.
Entry requirements
| Requirement | Details | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Valid passport Must be valid for the duration of your stay | Your passport needs to be valid for the entire time you're in Rwanda. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires before you leave, you'll be denied boarding. | Required |
| Return or onward ticket Proof of departure from Rwanda | Immigration officers at Kigali International Airport routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight booking ready — they check this before stamping you in. | Recommended |
| Proof of accommodation Hotel booking or host invitation | Carry a printed or digital hotel reservation, or a letter of invitation from your host in Rwanda. Immigration may ask where you're staying — having proof avoids delays. | Recommended |
| Proof of funds Show you can support yourself during your stay | Have a bank statement, credit card, or cash (at least $200 USD equivalent) ready. Officers rarely ask, but if they do, you need to show you're not working illegally. | Recommended |
