RequirementDetailsStatus

Ugandan passport holders enjoy visa-free access to Rwanda for up to 180 days per visit. No application, no fee — just show up with a valid passport and onward ticket.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare your documents
Before you travel, check your passport validity (6+ months), print or screenshot your return ticket and first night's accommodation. If you're flying into Kigali International Airport, you'll go through immigration there.
2
Arrive at the border or airport
At Kigali International Airport or any land border (e.g., Gatuna/Katuna, Cyanika, or Akagera), join the 'Foreign Passports' queue. Have your passport, return ticket, and accommodation proof ready.
3
Present documents and receive entry stamp
Hand over your passport and any requested documents. The officer will stamp your passport with a visa-free entry valid for up to 180 days. No fee is charged.
4
Collect luggage and exit
After immigration, collect your checked luggage (if any) from the baggage carousel, then proceed through customs. You're free to enter Rwanda.
