Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of stay
Your passport must be valid for at least the length of your stay in Honduras. Airlines check this at check-in. If your passport expires within 90 days, renew it before traveling.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Honduras
Immigration officers routinely ask for a return or onward ticket at the border. Have a printed or digital copy of your outbound flight booking ready. Airlines also check this before boarding.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Immigration may ask where you're staying. Have a hotel reservation or a letter from your host with their address and phone number. A printed copy works best.Recommended
Proof of funds
Sufficient money for your stay
Officers may ask to see bank statements, credit cards, or cash. Have at least $500 USD available for a short trip. ATMs are widely available in major cities.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Honduras requires 6 months of passport validity from your entry date. Airlines check this before boarding. If your passport expires sooner, you'll be turned away at the gate.
Keep a copy of your entry stamp
Take a photo of your passport stamp after immigration. If you lose your passport, the photo helps prove your legal entry. Also note the exact date you must leave.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Honduran Immigration
At the airport (Toncontín in Tegucigalpa or Ramón Villeda Morales in San Pedro Sula), follow signs to 'Migración' or 'Extranjería'. Join the queue for foreign passports.
2
Present Your Documents
Hand over your passport and completed arrival form (usually given on the plane). The officer may ask for your return ticket and hotel booking. Answer honestly and briefly.
3
Get Your Entry Stamp
The officer stamps your passport with the date of entry and the maximum stay (usually 90 days). Check the stamp before walking away. Keep the stamp legible.
4
Collect Luggage and Exit
After immigration, proceed to baggage claim, then customs. Green channel for nothing to declare, red channel if you have goods over $500 or restricted items.
