Extension available
You can extend your 30-day stay once for another 30 days. Visit any Royal Oman Police immigration office (in Muscat, it's at the airport or in Ruwi) before your first 30 days end. Fee is about 20 OMR.
Passport validity is critical
Oman requires 6 months of passport validity from your arrival date. Airlines won't let you board without it. Check your passport now — if it's close, renew before booking.

What happens at the border

Arrive at Muscat International Airport
Follow signs to 'Arrivals' and join the queue for 'Foreign Passports'. There are separate lanes for GCC nationals and others; you'll be in the general lane.

Present your passport at immigration
Hand over your US passport. The officer will scan it, verify your details, and stamp it with a 30-day free entry permit. No forms to fill, no fee to pay.

Collect your bags and exit
After the stamp, proceed to baggage claim, then customs. If you have nothing to declare, walk through the green channel.
