Uruguayan passport holders can get a visa on arrival at all major Cambodian airports and land borders. Bring your documents and cash for the fee. As of 2026, this is the standard entry method for tourism and short business visits.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Visa on arrivalYou get the visa stamped into your passport when you arrive — no need to apply before travel.
Tourist visa (T) or ordinary visa (E)
Uruguayan passport holders can obtain a visa on arrival at all international border checkpoints in Cambodia. The visa costs US$30 (tourist) or US$35 (ordinary) and is valid for a single entry. Payment must be in US dollars cash (exact change recommended). You will need one passport-sized photo (4x6 cm); if you don't have one, an additional fee of US$2–5 may be charged.Required
Passport validityIf your passport expires sooner, you may be denied boarding or entry.
Minimum 6 months beyond arrival
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date you enter Cambodia.Required
Blank passport pagesThe visa and entry stamp need a clean page — pages with previous visas or stamps won't work.
At least 1 full blank page
Your passport must contain at least one completely blank visa page (not the endorsement/amendment page) for the visa sticker and entry stamp.Required
Return or onward ticketAirlines sometimes check this before boarding, and immigration can ask at the border.
Proof of departure from Cambodia
Immigration officials may ask for proof of a return or onward flight out of Cambodia. While not always enforced, it is strongly recommended to have a confirmed ticket showing departure within the visa's validity period (typically 30 days).Recommended
Proof of sufficient fundsYou are unlikely to be asked, but having some cash or a credit card is sensible.
Not routinely checked
There is no official minimum amount required, but you should be able to demonstrate at least US$50 per day of stay if asked. In practice, this is rarely requested for visa-on-arrival holders. Not required
Arrival declarationYou do not need to fill out any arrival form beyond the visa application.
Not required
Cambodia does not require an arrival declaration form for Uruguayan passport holders. Not required
E-visa optionApplying online in advance can save time at the border, but is not required.
Alternative to visa on arrival
Uruguayan passport holders can also apply for an e-visa online before travel. The e-visa costs US$36 plus a processing fee (total ~US$42), is processed within 3 business days, and is valid for a single entry. It allows entry only through Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, and Sihanoukville international airports, plus the Poipet and Bavet land borders.Optional
Visa extensionYou cannot extend the visa you get on arrival — plan your stay accordingly.
Not available for visa on arrival
The visa on arrival cannot be extended. If you wish to stay longer, you must leave Cambodia and re-enter, or apply for a different visa category (e.g., ordinary visa E) at a Cambodian embassy before travel. Not required
Cash only — no cards accepted
The visa-on-arrival counter does not accept credit or debit cards. Bring US dollars in small denominations. ATMs are available after immigration, but you can't use them before you get your visa.
Visa on arrival is the standard — no need to apply in advance
You don't need to arrange anything before flying. Just show up with your passport, photo, cash, and onward ticket. The process is fast and reliable at all international airports.

What happens at the border

1
Fill out forms on the plane or at the counter
You'll receive an arrival card and a visa application form. Fill them out before you reach the immigration desk. Have your hotel address and flight number ready.
2
Go to the Visa on Arrival counter
At Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, or Sihanoukville airports, follow signs to 'Visa on Arrival' before the main immigration queue. Hand over your passport, completed form, photo, and cash.
3
Wait for processing
Processing takes 5–15 minutes depending on the queue. You'll get a receipt and your passport back with the visa sticker inside.
4
Proceed to immigration
Join the main immigration queue with your passport (now with visa) and arrival card. The officer will stamp you in. Keep the departure card stub — you'll need it when leaving.

Frequently asked questions

No — the visa on arrival is not extendable. If you want to stay longer, you must leave the country and re-enter, or apply for a different visa type (like an E-class business visa) at an immigration office, which can be extended. The standard tourist visa (T-class) is strictly non-extendable.
Most visa-on-arrival counters have a photo booth that charges around $2–5. It adds a few minutes to your wait. Better to bring your own to save time.
No — the visa fee is payable only in US dollars cash. Cambodian Riel is not accepted at the visa counter. Bring small US bills ($1, $5, $10, $20).
If you stay airside and don't pass through immigration, you don't need a visa. But if you plan to leave the transit area or stay overnight, you'll need the visa on arrival.
The tourist visa (T-class) allows a stay of up to 30 days. The business visa (E-class) is also valid for 30 days but can be extended once you're inside the country.
Overstay fines are $10 per day, payable at immigration when you leave. It's better to avoid overstaying — the fine adds up quickly and can cause issues at the border.
Yes — most major land border crossings (like Poipet from Thailand, Bavet from Vietnam, and Cham Yeam from Thailand) offer visa on arrival for Uruguayans. The process is the same as at airports, but have cash and a photo ready.
