What happens at the border

1
Prepare your documents before departure
Check your passport validity (6+ months from entry date). Print or save digital copies of your return ticket and first night hotel booking. Consider getting travel insurance and a local eSIM.
2
Fill out the arrival card on the plane
On your flight to Russia, you'll receive an immigration arrival card (two-part form). Fill it out in block capitals using the same details as your passport. Keep the smaller part with you for the duration of your stay — you'll hand it back when you leave.
3
Go through passport control at the airport
At the airport, join the 'Foreign Passports' queue. Hand over your passport and arrival card. The officer may ask your purpose of visit, where you're staying, and when you're leaving. Answer clearly and briefly. They'll stamp your passport and return the departure card.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After passport control, proceed to baggage claim, then customs. Unless you're carrying large sums of cash or restricted goods, go through the green channel (nothing to declare).
