Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of stay
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry into Botswana. Carry at least one blank page for the entry stamp.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Botswana
Immigration officers routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket. Airlines also check this before boarding. Have a printed or digital copy ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Have a hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host ready. Immigration may ask for it, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Carry bank statements or a credit card showing you have enough funds for your stay. Immigration may ask for proof of at least 500 BWP per day.Recommended
eVisa processing time
Apply at least 7 days before your departure. Processing can take 3–5 business days, and weekends don't count. If you apply too close to your flight, you risk not getting the visa in time.
Passport validity counts from entry, not departure
Your passport must be valid for 6 months from the day you land in Botswana, not from when you leave. If your passport expires sooner, renew it before applying for the eVisa.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Botswana eVisa portal (evisa.gov.bw). Fill in your personal details, upload a digital passport photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around $30–$50 USD depending on processing speed). Submit and wait for approval — typically 3–5 business days.
2
Receive and print your eVisa
Once approved, you'll get an email with your eVisa PDF. Print a copy and also save it on your phone. You'll need to show it at check-in and on arrival.
3
Arrive at Sir Seretse Khama International Airport (GBE)
After landing in Gaborone, follow signs to 'Immigration'. Join the queue for foreign passports. Hand over your passport, printed eVisa, and return ticket. The officer will stamp you in — usually for up to 30 days.

No, the eVisa is not extendable. You must leave before your authorized stay expires. If you need more time, you'd have to exit and reapply from outside Botswana.

If you're arriving from a country with yellow fever risk (including parts of Africa and South America), you'll need a yellow fever vaccination certificate. Otherwise, it's not required for direct travel from Uzbekistan.
Yes, the eVisa is valid for entry at all official border posts, including Kazungula (Zambia), Ramokgwebana (Zimbabwe), and Tlokweng (South Africa). Just show the printed eVisa at immigration.
