Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before departure
Apply for your Cameroon eVisa at the official portal. Processing takes 3–5 business days, so submit at least a week before your flight. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport — immigration at Douala and Yaoundé will ask to see it.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
6 months validity required
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Cameroon. Airlines at Tashkent International will check this before issuing a boarding pass — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration officers at Douala and Yaoundé airports routinely ask for proof of a return or onward flight. Have a printed itinerary or digital copy ready — without it, you may be refused entry and placed on the next flight out.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Cameroon. Officers occasionally ask for this during secondary inspection, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary.Recommended
Yellow fever vaccination certificate
Mandatory for entry
You must present a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate (the yellow WHO card) upon arrival. Without it, you will be required to take the vaccine at the airport health post — expect a fee of around 10,000–15,000 XAF and a 30-minute wait.Required
Yellow fever vaccine is mandatory
You must show a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate (WHO yellow card) at immigration. Without it, you may be denied entry or forced to get vaccinated on the spot at your own expense.
Cash is king in Cameroon
Credit cards are not widely accepted outside major hotels and restaurants. Carry enough CFA francs (XAF) for daily expenses. ATMs are available in cities but may have withdrawal limits.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Cameroon eVisa website (evisacameroon.com). Fill in your personal and passport details, upload a passport photo, and pay the fee. Processing usually takes 2–5 business days. You'll receive the approved eVisa by email.
2
Print your eVisa and pack supporting documents
Print a copy of the eVisa approval email. Also print or save your return ticket, hotel booking, and travel insurance. Keep them together in a folder for easy access at the airport and upon arrival.
3
Arrive at Yaoundé or Douala airport
Most international flights land at Yaoundé Nsimalen or Douala International. After landing, follow signs to 'Immigration' or 'Passport Control'. Have your passport, eVisa printout, and return ticket ready.
4
Go through immigration
Hand over your passport and eVisa. The officer may ask about your accommodation and return plans. Answer clearly. They'll stamp your passport and let you through. The whole process usually takes 5–15 minutes.
5
Collect luggage and exit
After immigration, head to baggage claim. Then proceed through customs. If you have nothing to declare, walk through the green channel. Outside, you'll find taxis and ride-hailing services.
