Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
You need an eVisa to enter Iraq. Apply at the official eVisa portal — processing takes a few business days. Print the approval and carry it with your passport.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for the entire stay
Your passport must be valid for the full duration of your stay in Iraq. Airlines check this at check-in — if it expires before you leave, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration officers ask for a return or onward ticket at the border. Have a printed copy or a digital booking ready — they may deny entry without one.Required
Proof of accommodation
Recommended to carry
Hotel booking confirmation or an invitation letter from your host helps at immigration. Officers may ask where you are staying — have a printed copy ready.Recommended
Proof of funds
Recommended to carry
Carry enough cash (USD or Iraqi dinar) to cover your stay. Immigration rarely asks, but having $500–$1,000 equivalent in cash avoids problems if questioned.Recommended
eVisa is mandatory — no exceptions
Uzbek passport holders cannot get a visa on arrival. Apply online at www.evisa.iq at least a week before your trip. Without an approved eVisa, you'll be denied boarding.
Keep digital copies of everything
Save your eVisa PDF, return ticket, and hotel booking to your phone. Immigration may ask to see them, and having them handy speeds things up.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to www.evisa.iq, fill in your details, upload a passport photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around $50–$80 depending on processing speed). Wait for approval — typically 3–5 business days. You'll receive a PDF by email.
2
Pack your documents
Print a copy of the eVisa approval email. Save a digital copy on your phone too. Also print or screenshot your return ticket and hotel booking. Keep them in your hand luggage.
3
Arrive at Baghdad or Erbil airport
At immigration, hand over your passport and printed eVisa. The officer will check your details and stamp you in. Have your return ticket and hotel confirmation ready in case they ask. The process usually takes 5–10 minutes.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After the stamp, proceed to baggage claim, then customs. No arrival declaration form is needed. You're free to enter.
