Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport needs to be valid for the entire time you're in Kyrgyzstan. Airlines at check-in will verify this — if your passport expires before you leave, you'll be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Kyrgyzstan
Immigration officers at Manas International Airport routinely ask for a confirmed onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight out of Kyrgyzstan ready — they'll check it before stamping you in.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel confirmation or a letter from your host. While not always checked, having it ready avoids delays if the officer asks where you're staying.Recommended
Proof of funds
Sufficient money for your stay
Have access to at least $50 USD per day of your stay — cash, card, or bank statement. Immigration rarely asks, but if you can't show funds, they can deny entry.Recommended
6-month passport validity is strictly enforced
Airlines check this before you board. If your passport expires within 6 months of your arrival date, you will be denied boarding. No exceptions.
Registration required after 5 business days
If you stay longer than 5 business days, you must register with the State Registration Service. Hotels usually handle this, but if you're in private accommodation, you need to do it yourself. Fines for missing registration can be around 5,000 KGS.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Manas International Airport (Bishkek)
Most travellers fly into Bishkek's Manas Airport. Follow signs to 'Passport Control' — there are separate queues for Kyrgyz citizens and foreigners. Join the foreigner queue.
2
Present your passport and boarding pass
Hand over your passport (with at least 6 months validity) and your boarding pass. The officer will check your details and may ask about your purpose of visit and length of stay.
3
Receive your entry stamp
The officer will stamp your passport with a 60-day visa-free entry. No fee, no form. The stamp shows the date you must leave by. Count the days yourself — don't rely on the officer's math.
4
Collect luggage and exit
After passport control, head to baggage claim, then customs. Green channel if you have nothing to declare, red channel if you're carrying over $10,000 or restricted goods.

No. The 60-day visa-free period is not extendable. If you want to stay longer, you must leave the country and re-enter, or apply for a different visa type before your trip. Overstaying can result in fines and a ban.
If you stay longer than 5 business days, you must register with the State Registration Service. Hotels usually do this for you automatically. If you're staying in private accommodation, you need to register yourself at a local office. Fines for not registering can be around 5,000 KGS (about $60).
Yes. The same 60-day visa-free policy applies at all land borders. Just make sure your passport has enough validity and blank pages. Land crossings can be slower — expect queues and occasional document checks.
You will likely be denied boarding by the airline or refused entry at the border. The 6-month validity rule is strictly enforced. Renew your passport before traveling.
Not usually. There's no official requirement to show bank statements or cash. But if you look like you might overstay or have no means of support, an officer could ask. Carrying a credit card and some cash (USD or KGS) is sensible.
No. The visa-free entry is for tourism, business meetings, and transit only. If you plan to work or study, you need to apply for the appropriate visa at a Kyrgyz embassy before you travel.
Overstaying is taken seriously. You'll be fined around 5,000–10,000 KGS (about $60–$120) and could be banned from re-entering for up to 1 year. Always leave on or before the stamped date.
