Vietnamese passport holders need a visa to enter Monaco for tourism or business in 2026. Since Monaco lacks its own embassy or visa system, you apply for a French Schengen visa through the French consulate. Plan ahead — processing takes at least 15 days.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for a French Schengen visa in Vietnam
Go to the French embassy or VFS Global center in Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City. Submit your application, passport, photos, flight itinerary, hotel booking, travel insurance, and proof of funds. Pay the visa fee (€80 for adults, €40 for children 6–12, free for under 6). Expect processing in 15–30 days.
2
Fly into Nice or Monaco
Most flights land at Nice Côte d'Azur Airport (NCE) in France, then you take a bus or train to Monaco (30 minutes). At immigration, show your passport with the French visa, your return ticket, and accommodation proof. They rarely ask for more, but have everything ready.
3
Enter Monaco
Monaco has no border control of its own — you enter via France. Once you're through French immigration, you're free to stay in Monaco for up to 90 days. Keep your passport and visa handy for hotel check-in.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Monaco does not issue its own visas. You need a French Schengen visa, which you apply for at the French embassy or consulate in Vietnam. The visa is valid for all Schengen countries, including Monaco.
Up to 90 days within any 180-day period. The visa is usually issued for multiple entries, so you can leave and re-enter as long as you don't exceed the 90-day limit.
€80 for adults, €40 for children aged 6–12, free for children under 6. There may be additional service fees if you apply through VFS Global (around €20–€30).
Typically 15–30 days. Apply at least 3 weeks before your trip. During peak season (summer), it can take longer, so plan ahead.
Yes. Take the Nice–Monaco bus (line 100, €1.50) or train (€4–€6) from Nice Saint-Augustin station. The journey takes about 30 minutes. There is no border control between France and Monaco.
You can appeal within 30 days of the rejection letter. Common reasons: insufficient funds, weak travel history, or incomplete documents. Reapply with stronger proof of ties to Vietnam (job letter, property, family).
If you're only passing through Monaco (e.g., on a day trip from Nice) and you already have a valid Schengen visa, you don't need anything extra. If you don't have a Schengen visa, you need one — even for a few hours.
