Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for a Pakistan eVisa at visa.nadra.gov.pk. Processing takes 7–10 working days for most nationalities. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport — immigration at Islamabad and Karachi will ask to see both.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid on arrival
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry into Pakistan. Airlines at Noi Bai and Tan Son Nhat check this before boarding — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration at Karachi and Lahore routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or a ticket to your next destination ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Recommended to carry
Hotel booking confirmations or a letter of invitation from a host in Pakistan. Immigration officers may ask where you are staying — having a printed booking avoids delays.Recommended
Proof of funds
Recommended to carry
Carry at least $200 USD equivalent in cash or a credit card statement. While not always checked, having proof of funds helps if the officer questions your ability to cover your stay.Recommended
eVisa only — no visa on arrival
Vietnam passport holders cannot get a visa on arrival in Pakistan. You must have an approved eVisa before you travel. Apply online at visa.nadra.gov.pk.
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you land in Pakistan, not from your departure date. Double-check before applying.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Pakistan eVisa portal (visa.nadra.gov.pk). Fill in your personal details, upload a passport-style photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee online with a credit or debit card. Processing usually takes 3–5 working days.
2
Receive and print your eVisa
Once approved, you'll get an email with the eVisa document. Print a copy and also save it on your phone. You'll need to show it at immigration on arrival.
3
Prepare your documents for arrival
Before you land, have your passport, printed eVisa, return ticket, and accommodation confirmation ready. Keep them in an easily accessible pocket — not buried in your bag.
4
Go through immigration at the airport
At major airports like Islamabad, Karachi, or Lahore, follow the 'Foreigners' queue. Hand over your passport, eVisa, and any requested documents. The officer will check your details, take a photo, and stamp your passport. The process usually takes 2–5 minutes per person.
