Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus

Valid passport
Must be valid for the entire stay
Your passport must be valid for the full duration of your stay in Ukraine. No minimum validity beyond departure is required by Ukrainian law, but airlines may enforce 6 months — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of onward travel
Border officers may ask for a return or onward ticket to confirm you intend to leave Ukraine within your visa's validity. Have a printed or digital copy ready.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Immigration may request proof of where you'll stay — a hotel reservation, rental agreement, or a notarized invitation from a Ukrainian host. Keep a copy on your phone or printed.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Officers can ask for bank statements or cash to prove you have enough money for your stay. No fixed minimum is published, but having at least $50 USD per day is a safe benchmark.Recommended
No visa-on-arrival
Do not show up at the airport in Ukraine without an approved e-Visa. You will be denied entry and sent back. Apply well in advance.
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you land in Ukraine, not from when you apply for the visa.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for e-Visa online
Go to evisa.gov.ua/en/, fill out the application form, upload a passport photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the visa fee (around $20–$30 USD) by card. You'll receive a confirmation email.
2
Wait for approval
Processing takes 5–10 business days. Check your email (including spam) for the approved visa PDF. Print it out and save a copy on your phone.
3
Prepare your documents
Before you head to the airport, gather: passport (valid 6+ months), printed visa, return ticket, accommodation booking, and travel insurance. Keep them in your carry-on.
4
Arrive at the airport in Ukraine
At Kyiv Boryspil or any other international airport, go to the 'Foreign Passports' queue. Hand over your passport and visa. The officer may ask to see your return ticket and accommodation. Answer clearly — they're checking you're a genuine tourist.
5
Collect your luggage and exit
Once stamped, collect your bags from the carousel and walk through customs. If you have nothing to declare, use the green channel.
