Immigration officers at Bogotá and Medellín airports routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight booking showing you leave Colombia within your visa validity.Recommended
Proof of accommodation

Carry a hotel confirmation or a letter of invitation from your host. Officers rarely ask for it, but having it ready avoids delays at the counter.Recommended

Check-Mig is mandatory
You must complete the free Check-Mig form online 1–5 days before your flight. Without it, you may be refused entry or delayed at immigration. Do it at migracioncolombia.gov.co.
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you land in Colombia, not from your departure date. If it expires sooner, renew it before applying for the eVisa.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Colombian visa portal (tramitesmre.cancilleria.gov.co) and complete the eVisa application. Upload your passport scan, photo, and supporting documents. Pay the fee online. Processing usually takes 5–10 business days.
2
Complete Check-Mig before your flight
Between 1 and 5 days before departure, fill out the free Check-Mig form at migracioncolombia.gov.co. You'll get a QR code — save it on your phone or print it.
3
Arrive at El Dorado Airport (Bogotá) or other entry point
At immigration, present your passport, eVisa approval, and return ticket. The officer may ask about your accommodation and travel plans. The process is usually quick — 10–20 minutes.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After passing immigration, collect your bags from the carousel and proceed through customs. There are no additional visa-related steps after this.
