Entry is straightforward
South Africans have one of the easiest entry setups for Dominica — no visa, no arrival form, no fee. Just a valid passport and a return ticket. The whole immigration process usually takes 5–10 minutes.
Medical evacuation is expensive
Dominica has limited medical facilities. For serious issues, you'll be flown to Martinique, Guadeloupe, or the US. Evacuation can cost $10,000–$50,000. Travel insurance covering evacuation is strongly recommended.

Arrive at Dominica immigration
At Douglas-Charles Airport (DOM) or Canefield Airport (DCF), follow signs to 'Immigration'. Queue for non-citizens. Have your passport, return ticket (screenshot), and accommodation confirmation ready.

Present documents to officer
Hand over your passport and any requested documents. The officer will ask your purpose of visit and length of stay. Answer clearly — tourism, visiting friends, etc.

Receive entry stamp
The officer will stamp your passport with the date of entry and the maximum stay (usually 180 days). Check the stamp before leaving the counter. If the dates look wrong, ask for correction immediately.

After immigration, proceed to baggage claim, then customs. Green channel if nothing to declare. Red channel if you have goods over the duty-free limit (typically $200 USD).
