Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for a Gabon eVisa at evisa.gouv.ga at least 72 hours before departure. The eVisa is valid for single entry and allows stays up to 30 days. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport — immigration at Libreville will check it before stamping you in.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for the entire stay
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Gabon. Airlines at Lusaka and Addis Ababa enforce this strictly — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure
Immigration at Libreville Léon-Mba Airport asks for a confirmed onward or return ticket before they issue your entry stamp. Have a printed copy or a screenshot of your booking ready — a simple itinerary without a ticket number may not be accepted.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Gabon. Immigration officers occasionally ask for this at the counter, especially if you are arriving without a pre-arranged tour or business contact.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have a bank statement or a credit card showing access to at least 200,000 CFA francs (about $330 USD) per day of your stay. Officers rarely ask for this, but if they do, a printed statement from your bank works best.Recommended
eVisa required — no exceptions
Zambian passport holders cannot enter Gabon without an approved eVisa. Do not attempt to travel without one, as you will be denied boarding and entry.
Yellow fever vaccination is mandatory
You must have a yellow fever vaccination and carry your yellow card. Immigration officers in Gabon routinely check for it. No card, no entry.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to https://evisa.gouv.ga/ and fill out the application. Upload a digital passport photo and a copy of your passport data page. Pay the fee (check the site for current cost). Processing usually takes a few days, so apply at least 3-5 business days before your flight.
2
Receive and print your eVisa
Once approved, you'll get an email with your eVisa. Print a copy and also save a PDF on your phone. You'll need to show it at check-in and on arrival.
3
Prepare your documents for departure
Before you leave for the airport, gather: your passport (6+ months validity), printed eVisa, return/onward ticket (screenshot or print), first night accommodation confirmation, and travel insurance docs. Keep them in your carry-on.
4
Arrival at Libreville International Airport (LBV)
At immigration, present your passport, eVisa, and return ticket. The officer may ask about your accommodation and purpose of visit. Answer clearly. After stamping, you'll proceed to baggage claim. The whole process usually takes 15-30 minutes if your documents are ready.
