Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply online before travel
You need a visa to enter Moldova. Apply through the official Moldova eVisa portal at least 10 working days before your trip. The eVisa costs €80 for a single entry and is valid for up to 90 days.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover your stay
Your Zambian passport must be valid for the entire duration of your stay in Moldova. Moldova does not require 6 months of validity beyond your departure date, but airlines may enforce it — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure
Immigration officers at Chișinău Airport routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your outbound booking ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Border officials may ask where you are staying. Have a hotel reservation, rental agreement, or a notarized invitation from your host in Moldova ready to show.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can cover your stay
You may be asked to demonstrate you have enough money for your trip. Carry bank statements or a credit card showing access to at least €50 per day of your intended stay.Recommended
Apply early — no visa on arrival
Moldova does not offer visa on arrival for Zambian passport holders. You must get an approved e-Visa before you fly. Processing takes 3–5 working days, so apply at least a week ahead.
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for 6 months from the day you land in Moldova, not from your departure date. If it expires sooner, renew it first.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the e-Visa
Go to evisa.gov.md, create an account, fill in the application form, upload a scanned copy of your passport bio page and a passport-style photo. Pay the fee (around €80 for most nationalities) with a credit card. Processing takes 3–5 working days — don't book flights until you have the approval.
2
Prepare your documents
Print or save digital copies of your visa approval, passport, return ticket, and accommodation booking. Keep them in a folder on your phone and a physical printout in your carry-on.
3
Arrive at Chișinău International Airport
After landing, follow signs to 'Border Control' (Poliția de Frontieră). Join the queue for non-EU/non-Moldovan passports. Hand over your passport and visa approval. The officer may ask for your return ticket and accommodation details — have them ready. Expect a stamp in your passport and a short interview (where are you staying, how long, purpose of visit).
4
Exit the airport
Once stamped, collect your luggage from the carousel and walk through the green 'Nothing to Declare' channel if you have no goods to declare. Taxis and buses are outside the arrivals hall.
