Zambian passport holders need an eVisa to enter Oman. The process is entirely online, and you must apply before you travel. As of 2026, the eVisa is the standard entry method for tourism and short visits.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for an Oman eVisa at the Royal Oman Police eVisa portal. Processing takes 1–3 business days. Print the approved eVisa and carry it with your passport — immigration at Muscat and Salalah airports will ask to see it.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover entire stay
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of arrival in Oman. Airlines at Lusaka and connecting hubs check this before boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure
Immigration officers routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket. Have a printed or digital copy ready — they check this at the counter before stamping entry.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your Omani host. Officers at the border sometimes ask for it, especially if you're staying more than a few days.Recommended
Proof of funds
Bank statement or cash
Have a recent bank statement or enough cash (around 500 OMR or equivalent) to cover your stay. Random checks happen at immigration, particularly for first-time visitors.Recommended
Apply before you fly
There is no visa on arrival for Zambian passport holders. You must have an approved eVisa before boarding your flight to Oman.
Keep digital copies handy
Save your eVisa PDF, return ticket, and hotel booking on your phone. You'll need them at check-in and immigration. Screenshots work fine.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the Royal Oman Police eVisa website (evisa.rop.gov.om). Fill in your personal and passport details, upload a passport-style photo, and pay the fee (around $50). Processing usually takes 1–3 business days, but apply at least a week early.
2
Print or save the eVisa approval
Once approved, you'll receive a PDF. Print a copy and save it on your phone. You'll need to show it at check-in and on arrival.
3
Arrive at Muscat International Airport
After landing, follow signs to 'Passport Control' (not 'Visa on Arrival'). Hand over your passport, eVisa printout, and return ticket if asked. The officer will stamp you in. The queue moves quickly — usually 10–20 minutes.
4
Collect luggage and exit
After immigration, head to baggage claim, then customs. There's nothing special to declare for standard tourist items. Exit into the arrivals hall.
