Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for a Qatar eVisa through the Hukoomi portal at least a week before your flight. The eVisa is valid for 30 days from issue and allows a single entry. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport to the counter.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for entire stay
Your Zambian passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry into Qatar. Airlines at Lusaka check this before boarding — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration at Hamad International Airport asks for a confirmed return or onward ticket. Budget airlines flying into Doha enforce this at check-in — have your booking reference ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Have a hotel confirmation or a letter from your Qatari host (with their QID number) ready. Immigration officers occasionally ask for this, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can cover your stay
Carry a bank statement or credit card showing at least 5,000 QAR (about $1,370 USD) for a short visit. Immigration rarely checks this for eVisa holders, but it helps if questioned.Recommended
eVisa must be approved before travel
Do not book non-refundable flights or hotels until you receive your eVisa approval. Without it, you will not be allowed to board your flight to Qatar.
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you land in Qatar, not from the day you apply. If it expires sooner, renew it first.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the Hukoomi portal (hukoomi.gov.qa) and select the eVisa service. Fill in your personal details, passport info, and travel dates. Upload a scanned copy of your passport bio page and a passport-style photo. Pay the fee (around 100 QAR) and submit. You'll receive a confirmation email.
2
Wait for approval
Processing usually takes 3–7 business days. Check your email (including spam) for the approval. Once approved, download the PDF and save it on your phone and print a backup copy.
3
Prepare your documents for travel
Before you leave, gather: passport (6+ months validity), approved eVisa printout, return ticket, accommodation booking, and travel insurance. Keep them in your carry-on.
4
Arrive at Hamad International Airport (DOH)
Follow signs to 'Arrivals' and join the queue for 'Foreign Passports'. Present your passport and eVisa. The officer may ask for your return ticket and hotel booking. Answer clearly. After stamping, collect your luggage and proceed through customs.
