Zimbabwean passport holders can travel to DR Congo visa-free for up to 90 days, a policy effective since 2024. This makes DR Congo one of the most accessible destinations in Central Africa for Zimbabweans. Ensure your passport is valid for at least 6 months from your entry date.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport must be valid for at least the full 90-day stay. Airlines check this at check-in. If your passport expires before you leave DR Congo, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from DR Congo
Immigration officers at N'djili Airport (FIH) routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed copy or a digital version on your phone ready. Airlines also check this before issuing a boarding pass.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host. Officers occasionally ask where you are staying, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during your stay
Have at least $500 USD in cash or a bank statement showing sufficient funds. DR Congo is a cash-heavy country — credit cards are rarely accepted outside major hotels in Kinshasa.Recommended
Yellow fever vaccine is mandatory
You must have a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate (yellow card) to enter DR Congo. Without it, you may be denied entry or forced to get vaccinated at the airport (which is not always available). Get it at least 10 days before travel.
Cash is king in DR Congo
Credit cards are rarely accepted outside major hotels in Kinshasa. ATMs are unreliable. Bring enough US dollars in good condition (no tears, no marks) to cover your entire stay. Small denominations ($1, $5, $10) are useful for taxis and markets.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare documents before departure
Print or save digital copies of your passport, return ticket, hotel booking, and travel insurance. Keep them in a separate folder on your phone for quick access.
2
Arrive at N'djili Airport (FIH) or other entry point
At Kinshasa's N'djili Airport, proceed to the immigration hall. Join the queue for 'Foreign Passports'. Have your passport and return ticket ready. The officer will stamp your passport — no visa required. This usually takes 5-10 minutes.
3
Collect luggage and exit
After immigration, collect your checked luggage from the carousel. Then proceed to customs — usually a quick bag scan. You are free to exit into the arrivals hall.
