Zimbabwean passport holders need an eVisa to enter Gabon. The process is entirely online — you apply before you travel, and you'll receive an approval document to show at the border. As of 2026, this is the only way to get a visa for tourism or business.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Gabon eVisa Portal
Apply for your Gabon eVisa at evisa.gouv.ga before departure. Processing takes 3–5 business days. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport — immigration will stamp the visa on arrival.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended stay
Gabon strictly enforces the 6-month passport validity rule. If your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding. Carry at least two blank pages for entry and exit stamps.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Gabon
Immigration at Libreville Leon Mba International Airport asks for a confirmed onward or return ticket before granting entry. Airlines also check this at check-in — have a printed copy or a clear digital version on your phone.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Have a hotel confirmation or a letter of invitation from your host ready. Immigration officers occasionally ask for it, especially if you arrive without a pre-booked itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Bank statement or cash
Carry a recent bank statement or enough cash (around 200,000 XAF or equivalent) to cover your stay. Immigration may ask to see proof of sufficient funds, though it's not always checked.Recommended
Yellow fever vaccination required
You must show your yellow fever vaccination certificate (yellow card) at immigration. Without it, you may be denied entry or forced to get vaccinated at the airport.
Keep digital copies of everything
Save your eVisa approval, passport scan, and return ticket as PDFs on your phone and in cloud storage. If you lose the printed copy, you can still show them at immigration.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to evisa.gouv.ga, fill in your details, upload a passport-style photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around €70–€100 depending on processing time) and submit. You'll get a confirmation email with a reference number.
2
Wait for approval
Processing usually takes 3–5 business days. Check your email (and spam folder) for the approval document. Print it out and keep a digital copy on your phone.
3
Arrive at Libreville International Airport (LBV)
At immigration, present your passport, the eVisa approval, and your return ticket. The officer will stamp you in. The whole process takes about 10–15 minutes if you have everything ready.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After clearing immigration, head to baggage claim, then customs. There's usually no customs check for personal items. Exit into the arrivals hall.
