What happens at the border

1
Apply for eVisa online
Go to evisa.e-gov.kz/en/, fill in your details, upload a passport photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around $80 USD) with a credit card. Processing takes 3–5 business days.
2
Receive and save your eVisa
You'll get a PDF approval via email. Save it to your phone and print a backup copy. The eVisa is linked to your passport number — no need to carry the PDF, but it's safer to have it.
3
Arrive at Kazakh immigration
At the airport (Almaty or Nur-Sultan), join the 'Foreign Passports' queue. Hand over your passport and the eVisa printout or show it on your phone. The officer will scan your passport, stamp it, and wave you through. Expect a quick check — 2–3 minutes.
4
Collect luggage and exit
After immigration, grab your bags from the carousel and walk through customs. If you have nothing to declare, use the green channel. You're in.
