Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Visa application
Apply for a visa to Ukraine
Zimbabwe passport holders need a visa before traveling to Ukraine. Apply at the nearest Ukrainian embassy or consulate — there is no visa on arrival. Processing takes 5–10 working days, and you must submit your passport in person for the visa sticker.Check visa requirementsRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for the entire stay
Your passport must be valid for the full duration of your stay in Ukraine. There is no 6-month validity rule — just cover your travel dates. Airlines may still ask for 6 months, so check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of onward travel
Immigration officers at Kyiv Boryspil and Lviv airports regularly ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy ready showing you leave Ukraine within your visa's validity period.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Border officers may ask where you're staying. Have a hotel confirmation, rental agreement, or a notarized invitation letter from a Ukrainian host. A simple Airbnb booking usually works.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Ukraine asks for proof of sufficient funds — around $50 USD per day of stay. A bank statement from the last 3 months or a credit card with a decent limit is enough. Officers rarely check this, but have it ready.Recommended
No visa on arrival
Zimbabwean passport holders cannot get a visa at the airport or border. You must apply and receive approval before you travel. Plan ahead.
eVisa is the easiest route
The Ukrainian eVisa system is straightforward. Apply online at evisa.gov.ua/en/, pay the fee, and receive your visa by email. No need to visit an embassy.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for your visa online
Go to the official Ukrainian eVisa portal (evisa.gov.ua/en/). Fill in the application, upload your documents, and pay the fee. Processing usually takes 7–14 working days.
2
Wait for approval
Once submitted, you'll get a confirmation email. Check your spam folder. If approved, you'll receive an eVisa document — print it and keep a digital copy.
3
Pack your documents
Before you leave, gather: passport (valid 6+ months), printed eVisa, return ticket, accommodation booking, and travel insurance. Put them in an easily accessible folder.
4
Arrive at the airport in Ukraine
At Kyiv Boryspil or any other entry point, go to the 'Foreign Passports' queue. Hand over your passport and eVisa. The officer may ask for your return ticket and accommodation. Answer clearly and calmly.
5
Get your entry stamp
If everything is in order, you'll receive an entry stamp in your passport. That's it — you're in. Keep the stamp visible; you'll need it when you leave.
