Visit Japan Web Saves Time
Registering on Visit Japan Web before your flight lets you skip the paper arrival card and customs form. You'll get a QR code to scan at immigration kiosks in Narita, Haneda, Kansai, Chubu, and other major airports. It's free and takes 10 minutes.
Passport Validity Is Strictly Enforced
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date you enter Japan. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you won't be allowed to board. Renew early if needed.

Arrival at Japanese Airport
After landing, follow signs to 'Arrivals' and then 'Foreign Passports'. Have your passport and (if you registered) QR code ready. If you didn't register, fill out the paper arrival card and customs declaration form (available on the plane or at the counter).

Immigration Interview
Hand over your passport and any forms. The officer may ask: purpose of visit, length of stay, where you're staying, and when you're leaving. Answer clearly. They'll take your photo and fingerprints (both index fingers). You'll get a landing permission sticker in your passport.

Collect Luggage and Clear Customs
After immigration, collect your bags from the carousel. Proceed to customs — if you have nothing to declare, use the green channel. If you registered on Visit Japan Web, scan your QR code at the customs kiosk.
