Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport needs to be valid for the entire period you plan to stay in Kuwait. Kuwait does not enforce a strict 6-month validity rule, but your airline may ask for it at check-in.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Kuwait
Immigration officers routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket. Have a printed copy or a digital version on your phone ready.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a hotel reservation confirmation or a letter from your host in Kuwait. Officers rarely ask, but having it avoids delays.Recommended
Proof of funds
Bank statement or cash
Have a recent bank statement or enough cash (around 500 KWD) to show you can support yourself. Not always checked, but better to have it.Recommended
GCC queue at immigration
As an Emirati, you can use the GCC nationals queue at Kuwait International Airport. This is usually faster than the general queue. Look for the 'GCC' sign at passport control.
Overstay fines are steep
Overstaying your 90-day visa-free period costs 10 KWD per day (about 33 USD). There's no grace period. Set a reminder to leave before day 90.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Kuwait International Airport
After landing, follow signs to 'Passport Control' or 'Immigration'. There are separate queues for GCC nationals and other nationalities. As an Emirati, you'll use the GCC queue. Have your passport and return ticket ready.
2
Present your passport for stamping
Hand your passport to the immigration officer. They will check your passport validity and may ask for your return ticket or accommodation details. Answer clearly. The officer will stamp your passport with a 90-day entry permit. No visa fee is charged.
3
Collect your luggage and proceed to customs
After immigration, collect your bags from the carousel. Customs is usually a green channel for most travellers. If you have nothing to declare, walk straight through. Then exit into the arrivals hall.
