Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
6 months validity beyond departure date
Your passport must have at least 6 months of remaining validity from the date you leave Morocco. Airlines check this before boarding — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Outbound travel proof
Immigration officers routinely ask for proof of onward travel at Casablanca and Marrakech airports. Have a printed or digital copy of your return or onward ticket ready.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed copy of your hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host. Officers occasionally ask for this at passport control, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Sufficient money for your stay
Have cash, credit cards, or bank statements showing you can support yourself during your visit. Officers rarely ask, but having proof avoids delays.Recommended
Overstaying is not an option
Morocco does not allow visa-free extensions. If you overstay even by a day, you risk a fine (around 300 MAD per day) and a possible re-entry ban. Set a calendar reminder to leave before day 90.
Keep your documents handy
Immigration officers at Casablanca and Marrakech sometimes ask for a return ticket and accommodation proof. Have screenshots on your phone — no need to print.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Moroccan airport
At Casablanca, Marrakech, or any other airport, follow signs to 'Passport Control' (not 'EU/EEA'). Join the queue for 'All Passports'.
2
Present documents to officer
Hand over your passport and (if asked) your return ticket and accommodation confirmation. The officer will stamp your passport — no forms to fill.
3
Collect luggage and exit
After the stamp, head to baggage claim, then customs. Green channel for nothing to declare, red channel if you have goods over the duty-free limit.

Frequently asked questions

No. The visa-free stay is not extendable. You must leave before day 90. Overstaying can result in fines or a ban. If you need longer, apply for a residence permit before your 90 days are up — but that's a separate process.
No. If you're transiting through Casablanca or Marrakech and staying airside (not passing immigration), you don't need a visa. If you plan to leave the airport, you'll need to meet the same visa-free entry requirements.
You'll be denied boarding by the airline. Renew your passport before traveling. No exceptions at immigration.
Not officially required for UAE passport holders. But if immigration suspects you can't support yourself, they may ask. Having a credit card or a few hundred euros in cash is smart.
Yes, but the border crossing can be slow. Same visa-free rules apply — just your passport and a return ticket. Expect queues of 30 minutes to 2 hours.
No, but it's strongly recommended. Medical costs for even a minor injury can add up. A basic policy covering medical evacuation is cheap peace of mind.
Buy a Maroc Telecom or Orange SIM at the airport — they cost about 50 MAD (€5) with data. Or use an eSIM like Airalo before you fly, so you're connected the moment you land.
