Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport just needs to be valid for the entire time you're in Tajikistan. Airlines sometimes ask for 6 months validity — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Tajikistan
Immigration officers at Dushanbe International Airport routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed copy or a digital version on your phone ready.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host. Border officers rarely ask, but having it avoids delays if they do.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have a bank statement or credit card showing access to funds. Officers almost never check this for short stays, but it's a legal requirement.Recommended
Visa-free entry is for 30 days only
You cannot extend your stay beyond 30 days. If you need more time, apply for a visa before you travel. Overstaying can lead to fines and future entry bans.
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Tajikistan requires your passport to be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry. Airlines check this before boarding. If your passport expires sooner, you won't be allowed to fly.
No visa, no fee, no forms
UAE passport holders get a straightforward visa-free entry. No application, no payment, no arrival card to fill. Just present your passport and you're in.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Dushanbe International Airport (or land border)
Most travellers fly into Dushanbe International Airport (DYU). There are also land borders with Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and China. At the airport, follow signs to 'Passport Control' — there's usually a separate queue for foreigners.
2
Present your passport and boarding pass
Hand over your passport (with at least 6 months validity) and your boarding pass. The officer will check your details, may ask about your purpose of visit and where you're staying, then stamp you in. No visa fee, no forms to fill.
3
Collect your luggage and exit
After passport control, proceed to baggage claim, then customs. There's a green channel for standard items and a red channel for goods to declare. Most tourists walk straight through the green channel.
