Austrian passport holders can enter Palestine without a visa for tourism or short visits. As of 2026, stays are limited to 90 days within any 180-day period. Most travelers arrive via Israel's Ben Gurion Airport or the Allenby/King Hussein Bridge from Jordan.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Austrian passport holders enter Palestine (West Bank) via Israeli-controlled border crossings. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry — Israeli border officials enforce this strictly. Carry a photocopy of your passport bio page separately.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Palestine/Israel
Israeli border control at Ben Gurion Airport or the Allenby Bridge crossing will ask for your onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight out of Israel or Jordan. Without one, you may be denied entry or forced to buy a ticket on the spot.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Israeli border officials sometimes ask where you're staying in the West Bank. Have a hotel confirmation or a letter from your host with their contact details. Booking.com or Airbnb confirmations work fine.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Carry at least $500 USD in cash or have a bank statement showing available funds. Israeli border officers rarely ask, but if they do, they want to see you're not planning to work illegally. Credit cards are accepted widely in Ramallah and Bethlehem.Recommended
Entry via Israel — passport stamping
Israeli immigration usually gives you a small entry slip instead of stamping your passport. This helps avoid issues if you later travel to countries that don't recognize Israel. Keep that slip safe — you'll need it to leave.
Overland crossing from Jordan
The Allenby/King Hussein Bridge is the only border crossing between Jordan and the West Bank. It's open Sunday–Thursday, 8:00–20:00, and Friday–Saturday, 8:00–13:00. Expect to pay exit and entry fees (around 80 USD total).

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Ben Gurion Airport (TLV)
Most travelers fly into Tel Aviv. After landing, follow signs to passport control. You'll get an entry card to fill out (keep the stub — you'll need it to leave). The officer will check your passport, ask about your plans, and stamp a separate slip (not your passport) to avoid issues at other borders.
2
Cross into Palestine via checkpoint
From Jerusalem, take a shared taxi (sherut) or bus to the Qalandia or Bethlehem checkpoint. Israeli soldiers may ask for your passport and entry slip. Keep your accommodation address handy. The process is usually quick for EU passport holders.
3
Entering via Allenby Bridge from Jordan
If coming overland from Jordan, take a taxi or bus to the King Hussein/Allenby Bridge border. Pay the exit fee (about 50 JD) and the Israeli departure tax (about 30 USD). After crossing, you'll go through Israeli security and then a Palestinian checkpoint. Total time: 2–4 hours.

Your passport (valid 6+ months), a return or onward ticket, and proof of accommodation for your first night. Immigration may also ask about your travel plans. Keep everything on your phone.
Generally yes, but check your government's travel advisories before you go. Avoid areas near the separation barrier and stay informed about local conditions. Travel insurance is strongly recommended.
