Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport needs to be valid for the entire time you plan to stay in Georgia. Georgia does not enforce a 6-month validity rule beyond your departure date, but your airline might ask for it at check-in — check with them before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Georgia
Immigration officers at Tbilisi and Kutaisi airports routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight booking ready — they rarely check the date, just that you have one.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
You don't need to show a hotel booking at immigration, but having one handy speeds things up if asked. A simple booking confirmation or a letter from a friend in Georgia works fine.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during your stay
Georgia doesn't enforce a minimum cash requirement at the border, but carrying a credit card or a few hundred GEL in cash avoids any awkward questions. ATMs are everywhere in Tbilisi and Batumi.Recommended
360-day stay is generous — but don't overstay
You can stay up to 360 days, but overstaying even by one day triggers fines and a potential re-entry ban. Set a reminder on your phone a week before your 360 days are up.
No visa, no fee, no registration
Bosnian passport holders have one of the easiest entry processes to Georgia. No visa application, no payment, and no police registration. Just show your passport and you're in.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Georgian border
At Tbilisi International Airport, Kutaisi, Batumi, or any land border crossing, join the 'Foreign Passports' queue. Have your passport and boarding pass ready.
2
Present documents to officer
Hand over your passport. The officer will check your passport validity, look for a blank page, and may ask for your return ticket. Answer clearly and briefly.
3
Receive entry stamp
The officer stamps your passport with the date of entry and the maximum stay allowed (360 days). No visa sticker or fee is involved.
4
Collect luggage and exit
After the stamp, proceed to baggage claim (if flying) and then customs. Green channel for nothing to declare, red channel for goods over 10,000 GEL or restricted items.

Frequently asked questions

No. The visa-free stay is a maximum of 360 days in any 365-day period. Overstaying can result in fines (around 180 GEL for the first 10 days, then more) and a ban from re-entering Georgia for up to 5 years. If you need to stay longer, you must apply for a temporary residence permit before your 360 days are up.
No. Visa-free entry is for tourism, business visits, and short-term stays only. To work legally in Georgia, you need a work visa or a residence permit. Working without the right permit is illegal and can get you deported.
No. Georgia does not require foreigners to register with the police or any government agency after arrival. Just keep your passport with the entry stamp safe.
You must have a passport valid for at least 6 months from your entry date. If it expires during your stay, you'll need to renew it at your embassy in Tbilisi. You cannot leave Georgia on an expired passport.
Yes. The same visa-free rules apply at all land border crossings. Just present your passport at the checkpoint. The process is usually quick — a few minutes per person.
No. There is no visa fee, no entry fee, and no departure tax. The only costs are your travel expenses and any optional services like travel insurance or eSIM.
Denial is rare for Bosnian citizens with valid passports and return tickets. Common reasons: passport validity under 6 months, no onward ticket, or being flagged in the Georgian database. If denied, you'll be given a written reason and can appeal at the nearest Georgian embassy.
