RequirementDetailsStatus
Visa on arrival
Free 30-day entry for all nationalities
Land at Velana International Airport and head to the immigration counter. No pre-application needed — the officer stamps you in for 30 days free of charge. Have your passport and IMUGA confirmation ready.Required
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of stay
Your passport needs to be valid for at least the length of your stay in the Maldives. Airlines at Dhaka may ask for 6 months validity — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for all arrivals
Immigration officers at Male check for a confirmed onward ticket. If you don't have one, they may deny entry or ask you to buy one at the airport. A printed or digital copy works.Required
Proof of accommodation
Recommended for smooth entry
Most visitors stay at a resort or guesthouse — have your booking confirmation ready. If you're staying with a local, the resort or guesthouse will arrange your island transfer, so they'll ask for the booking anyway.Recommended
IMUGA — Maldives Arrival DeclarationMaldives' mandatory online arrival declaration at imuga.immigration.gov.mv. Complete it within 96 hours before departure. This is not a visa — all nationalities get free 30-day entry on arrival.
Mandatory online form within 96 hours of departure
Fill in the IMUGA form at imuga.immigration.gov.mv with your flight details, passport info, and accommodation. You get a QR code — screenshot it and show it at immigration. Takes 2 minutes.Open IMUGA formRequired
IMUGA form is mandatory
You must complete the free IMUGA arrival declaration online before you travel. Do it 24–96 hours before your flight. Without it, you'll be held up at immigration. Save the QR code on your phone.
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry. Airlines check this before boarding. If your passport expires sooner, you won't be allowed to fly. No exceptions.
