Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply online before travel
Apply for a Myanmar eVisa at the official Ministry of Immigration portal. Processing takes 3–5 business days, and the eVisa is valid for 90 days from issue. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport — immigration at Yangon, Mandalay, and Naypyidaw airports will stamp the visa on arrival.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must have 6 months validity beyond your intended stay
Your Bulgarian passport needs at least 6 months of remaining validity from your date of entry into Myanmar. Airlines check this at check-in, and immigration at Yangon will deny boarding if your passport expires sooner.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Myanmar
Immigration officers routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return flight. Have a printed itinerary or digital booking ready — they may check the date matches your eVisa validity.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Carry a printed hotel confirmation or a letter from your host in Myanmar. Immigration rarely asks, but having it ready avoids delays at the counter.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during the stay
Have a bank statement or credit card showing access to at least $300–$500. Officers almost never check this for eVisa holders, but it's smart to have a printout.Recommended
eVisa only valid at certain airports
The Myanmar eVisa is only accepted at Yangon International Airport, Mandalay International Airport, and Naypyidaw International Airport. If you arrive by land or sea, you need a different visa. Also, the eVisa is for single entry only — you cannot re-enter on the same visa.
Keep your eVisa printout with your passport
You'll need to show the eVisa approval letter at check-in for your flight to Myanmar and again at immigration on arrival. A digital copy on your phone is a good backup, but a printed copy is more reliable.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Myanmar eVisa website (evisa.moip.gov.mm). Fill in your personal details, passport info, and travel plans. Upload a recent passport-style photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around $50 USD) with a credit or debit card. Processing usually takes 3-5 working days, but can be faster.
2
Receive and print your eVisa
Once approved, you'll get an email with your eVisa approval letter. Print a copy and save a digital version on your phone. You'll need to show it at check-in and on arrival in Myanmar.
3
Arrive at Yangon, Mandalay, or Naypyidaw airport
Most international flights land at Yangon International Airport (RGN). Go to the immigration counter, present your passport, eVisa printout, and onward ticket. The officer will stamp you in. Keep the stamp visible — you'll need it when you leave.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After immigration, collect your bags from the carousel. There's a customs declaration form to fill out (usually handed out on the plane). Declare anything over $10,000 USD or restricted items. Then walk through the green channel if you have nothing to declare.
