Bahraini passport holders need an eVisa to enter Burkina Faso. The application is done entirely online before you travel. As of 2026, the eVisa is the standard entry method for tourism and business visits.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Burkina Faso eVisa
Apply online at the official Burkina Faso visa portal before you travel. The eVisa is mandatory for Bahrain passport holders — there is no visa on arrival option. Complete the application, pay the fee, and download the approval PDF to show at immigration.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Passport validity
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Burkina Faso. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of onward travel
Immigration officers routinely ask for a return or onward ticket at Ouagadougou Airport. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight booking ready — they will check the date matches your eVisa validity.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Carry a hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Burkina Faso. Officers rarely ask for it, but having it ready avoids delays at the counter.Recommended
Proof of funds
Financial means
Be ready to show cash, a bank statement, or a credit card if asked. There is no fixed minimum amount, but having around 200,000 CFA francs (~$330 USD) or equivalent covers a short stay.Recommended
Yellow fever vaccine is mandatory
You must show a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate at immigration. Without it, you may be denied entry or forced to get vaccinated on the spot (and pay a fine). Get the shot at least 10 days before travel.
Keep digital and paper copies of everything
Internet can be unreliable in Burkina Faso. Save your eVisa, flight booking, and hotel confirmation as PDFs on your phone and carry a printed backup. Immigration at land borders may not have scanners for digital copies.

Frequently asked questions

The eVisa fee varies by nationality and visa type. For Bahraini passport holders, expect around 50,000 XOF (roughly 80 USD) for a single-entry tourist eVisa. Check the exact amount on visaburkina.bf when you apply.
Processing usually takes 2–5 business days. Apply at least a week before your flight to be safe. There's no express option, so don't leave it to the last minute.
No. The eVisa is not extendable. If you need to stay longer, you must leave the country and reapply for a new eVisa. Overstaying can result in fines or entry bans.
Yes. A yellow fever vaccination certificate is required for all travellers over 1 year old. You'll be asked to show it at immigration. Get the shot at least 10 days before travel.
The eVisa is valid for entry at all international airports and land borders. However, land border crossings can be less predictable — carry a printed copy of your eVisa and all supporting documents.
The standard eVisa is single-entry. If you plan to leave and re-enter Burkina Faso (e.g., for a side trip), you'll need a new eVisa each time. There's no multi-entry option for Bahraini passport holders.
Rejections are rare but can happen if your documents are incomplete or your passport doesn't meet the validity requirement. You'll get a refund minus a processing fee. Reapply with corrected documents.
