Brazilian passport holders can visit the Czech Republic for tourism or business without a visa for up to 90 days within any 180-day period. This applies to the entire Schengen Area, so your total stay across all Schengen countries cannot exceed 90 days. Entry is straightforward, but you'll need to meet a few standard requirements at the border.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the entire stay
Your passport must be valid for the entire duration of your stay in the Czech Republic. Schengen rules do not require 6 months beyond departure, but airlines may enforce it — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Schengen area
Immigration officers at Prague Airport routinely ask for a return or onward ticket showing you leave the Schengen zone within 90 days. Budget airlines check this at check-in too.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Have a printed or digital hotel confirmation, Airbnb booking, or a letter from a friend/family member you're staying with. Border officers ask for this on random checks.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Carry bank statements or a credit card showing access to at least 1,100 CZK (approx. €45) per day of your stay. Officers rarely ask, but it's a legal requirement.Recommended
Schengen 90/180 rule is strict
Your 90-day visa-free stay applies to the entire Schengen Area, not just the Czech Republic. If you've already spent time in France, Italy, or any other Schengen country in the past 180 days, that counts toward your 90-day limit. Use the EU's Schengen calculator online to track your days.
Entry at land borders from other Schengen countries
If you enter the Czech Republic by land from Germany, Austria, Poland, or Slovakia, there are usually no passport checks. But you must have entered the Schengen Area at an official border (airport or seaport) and received an entry stamp. Without a stamp, you may have trouble proving you didn't overstay when you leave.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare your documents before you travel
Gather your passport (valid 6+ months), return ticket, accommodation booking, and proof of funds. Save digital copies on your phone and print backups. If flying into Prague Václav Havel Airport, have these ready before you join the passport control queue.
2
Arrive at passport control
At the airport, follow signs for 'Non-EU Passports'. The queue can take 15–45 minutes. Hand over your passport and any requested documents. The officer will ask your purpose of visit and length of stay. Answer clearly and briefly.
3
Get your entry stamp
The officer will stamp your passport with the date of entry. Check the stamp is legible before walking away. This stamp starts your 90-day Schengen clock. If you don't get a stamp (rare but possible), ask for one.
4
Exit the arrivals area
After passport control, collect your luggage (if any) and walk through the green 'Nothing to Declare' channel if you have no goods to declare. You're now officially in the Czech Republic.

Frequently asked questions

No. The 90-day visa-free stay applies to the entire Schengen Area, and it's not extendable for tourism. If you want to stay longer, you'd need a national visa (e.g., for work, study, or family reunification) applied for at the Czech embassy in Brazil before travel.
If you're staying in a hotel, they handle registration for you. If you're staying in a private residence (e.g., with friends or Airbnb), you must register with the Foreign Police within 3 working days of arrival. Go to the local police department for foreigners — bring your passport and proof of address. There's no fee.
Overstaying is a serious violation. You can be fined up to 3,000 CZK (around €120) and banned from re-entering the Schengen Area for up to 5 years. The ban is enforced at all Schengen borders. Don't risk it.
Yes. You can fly into any Schengen country (e.g., Germany, Austria) and then travel to the Czech Republic by land or air. The 90-day clock starts the moment you enter the Schengen Area, not when you cross into the Czech Republic. Just make sure your passport is stamped at the first Schengen entry point.
No. If you're connecting to a non-Schengen destination and don't leave the international transit area, you don't need a visa. But if you need to clear passport control (e.g., to switch airports or stay overnight), you'll need the same visa-free entry rules — so your 90-day limit still applies.
Always carry your passport (or a copy) and proof of accommodation. Police can ask for ID at any time. A digital copy on your phone is usually accepted, but a physical copy is safer. Keep the original passport in your hotel safe.
Technically, the visa-free stay is for tourism and business meetings only — not for remote work for a foreign employer. In practice, short-term remote work is rarely checked, but if you're staying for weeks and working, you might technically be violating the terms. For longer stays, consider a digital nomad visa (Czech 'Zivno' freelance visa) applied for in advance.
