Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must cover entire stay in Finland
Your Brazilian passport must be valid for the entire duration of your stay in Finland. Schengen rules do not require 6 months beyond departure, but airlines may still enforce it — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Schengen area
Immigration at Helsinki Airport routinely asks for a return or onward ticket showing you leave the Schengen zone within 90 days. Budget airlines check this at check-in too.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Have a hotel confirmation, Airbnb reservation, or a letter from your host ready. Border officers rarely ask for it, but they can — and if you're staying with a friend, a simple invitation letter with their address works.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Finland doesn't publish a fixed minimum, but carry at least €50–€70 per day of stay in cash or a card statement. Officers may ask how you'll fund your trip, especially for longer visits.Recommended
Schengen zone rules apply
Finland is part of the Schengen Area. Your 90-day visa-free stay counts across all 27 Schengen countries combined. A trip to Paris or Rome uses the same 90 days.
eSIMs save time at the airport
Instead of queuing for a local SIM at Helsinki Airport, buy an Airalo eSIM online before you fly. It activates automatically when you land — you'll have data immediately.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Helsinki Airport (HEL) or other entry point
Most Brazilian travellers fly into Helsinki-Vantaa. Follow signs to 'Passport Control' (non-EU). Queues vary — 10 minutes to 1 hour. Have your passport and return ticket ready.
2
Present your passport to the border officer
Hand over your passport. The officer may ask: purpose of visit, how long you're staying, where you're staying, and proof of onward travel. Answer clearly and briefly. They'll stamp your passport with the entry date.
3
Collect luggage and proceed to customs
After passport control, collect your bags from the carousel. Customs is usually green channel (nothing to declare) for most tourists. If you have goods over €430 or restricted items, use the red channel.
