Canadian passport holders need an eVisa to enter Myanmar. It covers tourism and business visits, and you must apply online before you travel. As of 2026, the eVisa allows a single entry for up to 28 days.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply online before travel
Apply for a Myanmar eVisa at the official eVisa portal. Processing takes up to 3 business days — do not book flights until approved. The eVisa is valid for 90 days from issue and allows a single entry for up to 28 days.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must have at least 6 months validity
Your Canadian passport needs at least 6 months of remaining validity beyond your intended departure date from Myanmar. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Myanmar
Immigration officers routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket. A flight booking out of Myanmar within your eVisa's 28-day validity window is sufficient. Bus or train tickets to a neighboring country also work if you have the corresponding visa.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Have a printed hotel confirmation or an invitation letter from your host in Myanmar. Immigration may ask for the address you are staying at during arrival questioning. A simple booking.com confirmation works fine.Recommended
Proof of funds
Cash or bank statement
Carry at least $300 USD in cash or have a bank statement showing sufficient funds. Myanmar is still a cash-heavy country — credit cards are not accepted everywhere. Immigration rarely asks, but having cash on hand avoids problems.Recommended
eVisa only for air arrivals
The eVisa is only valid for entry by air at Yangon, Mandalay, or Naypyidaw airports. If you plan to enter by land, you need a visa from a Myanmar embassy.
Keep a printed copy of your eVisa
Immigration officers may ask for a printed copy. Keep one in your hand luggage and a digital backup on your phone.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Myanmar eVisa website and fill out the application form. You'll need your passport details, a digital photo, and your travel itinerary. Pay the fee with a credit card. Processing usually takes 3-5 business days, but can be faster.
2
Print or save your eVisa approval
Once approved, you'll receive an email with your eVisa. Print a copy and also save a digital version on your phone. You'll show this at immigration in Myanmar.
3
Prepare your documents for arrival
Before you land, have your passport, eVisa, return ticket, and accommodation confirmation ready. Keep them in your hand luggage, not checked bags.
4
Arrive at Yangon, Mandalay, or Naypyidaw airport
Most international flights arrive at Yangon International Airport. Follow signs to 'Immigration' or 'Arrivals'. Join the queue for foreign passport holders. Hand over your passport, eVisa, and any other requested documents. The officer will stamp you in.
5
Collect your luggage and exit
After immigration, proceed to baggage claim, then customs. You're free to enter Myanmar.
