Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your Swiss passport needs to be valid for the entire time you plan to stay in the UAE. Airlines check this at check-in, and immigration officers in Dubai and Abu Dhabi enforce it strictly.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from the UAE
Immigration officers at Dubai and Abu Dhabi airports ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket. Budget carriers like flydubai and Air Arabia enforce this at check-in without exception.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Immigration officers may ask for a hotel reservation or a letter from your host in the UAE. Have a printed copy or a screenshot ready on your phone.Recommended
Proof of funds
Sufficient money for your stay
Officers rarely ask for proof of funds for Swiss passport holders, but having a credit card or bank statement showing at least 1,000 AED per day of stay avoids any issues.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your arrival date. Airlines check this before issuing a boarding pass. If you're even a day short, you'll be denied travel.
No visa needed — but carry proof of onward travel
Immigration officers rarely ask for it, but they can. Always have a return ticket and hotel booking confirmation easily accessible — a screenshot on your phone is fine.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare documents before departure
Make sure your passport has 6+ months validity and at least one blank page. Book your return flight and first night accommodation. Save confirmations as screenshots on your phone.
2
At the airport check-in
The airline will check your passport validity and onward ticket. They may also ask for proof of accommodation. If you don't have these, you won't get a boarding pass.
3
Arrival at UAE immigration
At Dubai (DXB/DWC), Abu Dhabi (AUH), or Sharjah (SHJ), go to the foreign passport queue. Hand over your passport. The officer will stamp it with a 90-day visit entry. No visa fee, no form to fill.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After the stamp, proceed to baggage claim and customs. There's no additional paperwork. You're free to stay up to 90 days.
