Canada entry requirements for Ivory Coast passport holders
Starting in 2026, Ivory Coast passport holders must get a visa before traveling to Canada. You need to apply for a visitor visa (TRV) — there is no visa-free access or eTA option for CI passports.
Entry requirements
| Requirement | Details | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Visa application Visitor visa (TRV) required | Apply for a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) at the Canadian visa office in Abidjan or online via the IRCC portal. Processing takes 2–4 weeks on average. You'll need to submit biometrics (fingerprints and photo) at a Visa Application Centre — book an appointment as soon as you submit the application.Apply for TRV | Required |
| Valid passport Must be valid for entire stay | Your passport must be valid for the full duration of your stay in Canada. Canada does not require 6 months of validity beyond your departure date, but airlines may enforce it — check with your carrier before booking. | Required |
| Return or onward ticket Proof of departure from Canada | Immigration officers at Canadian airports routinely ask for a return or onward ticket showing you'll leave Canada before your visa expires. Have a printed or digital copy ready — airlines also check this before boarding. | Required |
| Proof of accommodation Hotel booking or host invitation | Carry a hotel reservation, Airbnb confirmation, or a letter from your host in Canada with their address and contact details. Border officers may ask where you're staying — having a printed copy speeds things up. | Recommended |
| Proof of funds Show you can support yourself | Have bank statements or a credit card statement showing at least CAD $2,500 for a short trip, or more if staying longer. Officers at Canadian airports occasionally ask to see proof you can cover your expenses. | Recommended |
