Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
You need a visa to enter Kuwait. Apply online through the Kuwait eVisa portal at evisa.moi.gov.kw. Processing takes a few business days, and you'll receive the visa by email — print a copy to carry with your passport.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover entire stay
Your passport must be valid for at least the full duration of your stay in Kuwait. Airlines check this at check-in, and immigration officers enforce it strictly — no exceptions for expired or damaged passports.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure
Immigration will ask for a confirmed return or onward ticket before letting you through. Have a printed or digital copy of your itinerary ready — they check this at the counter.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host letter
Carry a hotel reservation confirmation or a letter from your host in Kuwait. Immigration may ask for it, especially if you're arriving without a pre-arranged visa sponsor.Recommended
Proof of funds
Bank statement or cash
Have a recent bank statement or enough cash (around 500 KWD) to cover your stay. Officers rarely ask, but it's better to have proof ready if questioned.Recommended
Visa required — no exceptions
Ivory Coast passport holders cannot enter Kuwait without a pre-approved visa. There is no visa on arrival, no visa waiver, and no e-visa for same-day travel. Apply well in advance.
Print your visa
Kuwait immigration expects a printed copy of your approved visa. A digital copy on your phone is not enough — they will ask for paper. Keep it with your passport.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the visa online
Go to the Kuwait e-visa portal (evisa.moi.gov.kw). Create an account, fill in your details, upload a passport-style photo and a copy of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around 3–6 KWD depending on visa type) and submit. Processing takes 3–10 business days.
2
Wait for approval and print the visa
Once approved, you'll receive an email with a PDF. Print it out — you'll need a paper copy to show at immigration in Kuwait City Airport.
3
Prepare your documents for the airport
Before you leave for the airport, gather: your passport, printed visa, return ticket, hotel booking, and travel insurance. Keep them in your carry-on.
4
Arrive at Kuwait International Airport
After landing, follow signs to 'Visa on Arrival' counters — but since you already have a visa, go directly to 'Passport Control'. Hand over your passport and printed visa. The officer may ask for your return ticket and hotel address. Answer clearly. You'll get a stamp and can proceed to baggage claim.
