Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Visa application
Apply for a visa before travel
Ivory Coast passport holders need a visa to enter Morocco. Apply at the Moroccan embassy or consulate in Abidjan before departure. Processing takes 5–10 working days — submit your passport, two photos, flight itinerary, and hotel booking.Check visa requirementsRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your stay
Morocco strictly enforces the 6-month passport validity rule. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding. Carry a photocopy of the bio page separately.Required
Return or onward ticket
Show proof of departure from Morocco
Immigration officers at Casablanca and Marrakech airports routinely ask for a return or onward flight ticket. Have a printed copy or a screenshot ready. Overstaying costs 100 MAD per day (~$10), paid at the airport before departure.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Border officers may ask for your hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host. Have a printed booking confirmation or a digital copy on your phone. If staying with friends, they need to register you at the local police station within 48 hours.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can cover your stay
Carry cash (euros or dirhams) or a bank statement showing at least 500 MAD (~$50) per day of your stay. ATMs are widely available in cities, but bring some cash for taxis and small purchases on arrival.Recommended
Visa required — apply well in advance
There is no visa waiver or visa on arrival for Ivory Coast passport holders. You must get a visa from the Moroccan embassy before you travel. Start the process at least 4 weeks before your trip.
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you arrive in Morocco, not from the day you leave. If it expires sooner, renew it before applying for the visa.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for a visa at the Moroccan embassy
Contact the Moroccan embassy in Abidjan or the nearest Moroccan consulate. Submit the visa application form, your passport, passport photos, flight itinerary, hotel booking, and proof of funds. Processing takes 1–3 weeks. There is no online application for CI passport holders.
2
Wait for visa approval
Once submitted, the embassy reviews your application. You may be asked for an interview. Approval is not guaranteed. If approved, the visa is stamped into your passport.
3
Pack your documents
Before you leave, make copies or screenshots of your visa, passport, return ticket, hotel booking, and insurance. Keep them in your phone and a printed folder.
4
Arrive at a Moroccan airport
You will most likely land at Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca or Marrakech Menara Airport. Go to the 'Foreign Passports' queue. Have your passport with visa, boarding pass, and return ticket ready.
5
Pass through immigration
The officer will check your visa, passport validity, and may ask for your return ticket and hotel address. Answer clearly. They will stamp your passport with the entry date and the number of days you are allowed to stay (as per your visa).
