Frequently asked questions

No, the standard visa-free stay is 90 days and cannot be extended. If you want to stay longer, you'll need to leave Colombia and re-enter (a 'visa run') or apply for a different visa type before your 90 days expire.
Overstaying is a violation of immigration law. You may face a fine (around 2-3 USD per day overstayed, but can be higher), a ban on re-entry, or deportation. Always leave before your stamp expires.
Not required for Chileans arriving directly from Chile. However, if you've recently been in a country with yellow fever (e.g., Brazil, Peru), you may need proof of vaccination. Check the latest health requirements before travel.
No. Colombian immigration strictly requires at least 6 months of passport validity from your date of entry. If your passport expires sooner, renew it before you travel.
Yes, it's mandatory for all travelers entering Colombia by air. You must complete it within 72 hours before your flight. Without it, you may be denied boarding or face delays at immigration. It's free and takes about 10 minutes.
The local currency is the Colombian Peso (COP). US dollars are widely accepted in tourist areas but you'll get better rates using ATMs or exchanging at banks. Credit cards are common in cities, but carry some cash for smaller towns and markets.
Yes, an onward ticket to any country outside Colombia works. It just needs to show you're leaving Colombia within your 90-day stay. A bus ticket to Ecuador or a flight to Peru is fine.
