Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Schengen visa application
Apply at the Norwegian embassy or consulate
Cameroon passport holders need a Schengen visa before traveling to Norway. Apply at the Norwegian embassy or VFS Global center in your home country. Processing takes at least 15 calendar days — start the process 3 months before your trip.Apply for visaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 3 months beyond your departure from Schengen area
Your passport needs at least 3 months of validity after your planned exit from the Schengen zone. It must have been issued within the last 10 years. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Schengen area
Immigration officers at Oslo Gardermoen ask for a return or onward ticket showing you leave the Schengen zone within your visa's validity. Budget airlines like Norwegian and Ryanair check this before issuing a boarding pass. Have a printed or digital copy ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation letter
Carry a confirmed hotel reservation for every night of your stay, or a signed invitation letter from your host in Norway. The immigration officer may ask to see it at the border. Airbnb bookings are accepted if they show the full address and booking confirmation.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during the stay
Have bank statements or a credit card showing at least 500 NOK per day of your stay. The officer may ask how you will pay for food, transport, and accommodation. A recent payslip or sponsor letter also works.Recommended
Visa required — apply early
You cannot enter Norway without a visa. Start your application at least 6 weeks before your trip. The embassy in Yaoundé handles all visa applications for Cameroon.
Schengen area rules
Norway is part of the Schengen area. A visa for Norway allows you to travel to other Schengen countries (e.g., France, Germany, Spain) for up to 90 days within any 180-day period. But you must enter through Norway first.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for a visa
Submit your visa application at the Norwegian embassy in Yaoundé or through VFS Global. Book an appointment, pay the fee, and provide biometrics (fingerprints and photo). Processing takes 15–30 days.
2
Pack your documents
Before you leave, print or save digital copies of your visa approval, passport, return ticket, hotel booking, and insurance. Keep them in your hand luggage.
3
Arrive at Oslo Airport (or other entry point)
At passport control, hand over your passport and visa. The officer may ask about your trip purpose, how long you're staying, and where you're staying. Answer clearly and briefly. They rarely ask for extra documents if you have a valid visa.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After passport control, follow signs to baggage claim, then customs. If you have nothing to declare, use the green channel. You're free to leave the airport.
