RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply online before travel
Apply for a Vietnam eVisa at evisa.xuatnhhapcanh.gov.vn. The fee is $25 USD for single entry or $50 USD for multiple entry, valid for up to 90 days. Processing takes 3 working days — do not book flights until approved.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for the entire stay
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Vietnam. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Vietnam
Immigration officers routinely ask for a flight out of Vietnam within your eVisa validity period. Have a printed or digital copy of your onward ticket ready — budget airlines may refuse boarding without it.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Have a hotel confirmation or a letter of invitation from your host in Vietnam. Immigration may ask for it at the border, especially if you are staying longer than 30 days.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Carry at least $500 USD in cash or a credit card with a sufficient limit. Immigration officers rarely check this for eVisa holders, but it helps if asked.Recommended
eVisa only — no visa on arrival
Cameroon passport holders cannot get a visa on arrival at Vietnamese airports. You must apply for an eVisa online before you travel. No exceptions.
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you land in Vietnam, not from your departure date. Double-check before applying.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for eVisa online
Go to the official Vietnamese eVisa website (evisa.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn). Fill in your personal details, upload a passport photo and a scan of your passport data page. Pay the fee (around $25 USD) with a credit card. Processing takes 3-5 business days.
2
Receive and print eVisa
Once approved, you'll get a PDF via email. Print a copy and also save it on your phone. The immigration officer will scan the barcode at the airport.
3
Arrive at Vietnam airport
At Noi Bai (Hanoi), Tan Son Nhat (Ho Chi Minh City), or Da Nang airport, go to the 'eVisa' or 'Visa on Arrival' counter. Present your passport, printed eVisa, and return ticket. You'll get an entry stamp valid for up to 90 days.
4
Pass through immigration
Hand over your passport and eVisa. The officer may ask your hotel address or purpose of visit. Answer clearly. You'll receive a stamp and can proceed to baggage claim.
