Visa on arrival
Visa on arrival
Colombian passport holders can get a visa on arrival at Queen Alia International Airport and other land borders. The visa costs 40 JOD (around $56 USD) and is valid for 30 days. Have cash in Jordanian dinars or USD ready — the counter does not accept cards.Apply onlineRequired
Valid passport
Passport validity
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Jordan. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of onward travel
Immigration officers routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight itinerary ready. Without one, you may be refused entry and sent back on the next flight.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Officers may ask where you are staying. Have a hotel confirmation, hostel booking, or a letter from a host with their contact details. A printed copy avoids fumbling with your phone at the counter.Recommended
Proof of funds
Financial means
You may be asked to show you have enough money for your stay. Carry at least $500 USD in cash or have a credit card statement ready. ATMs are available at the airport but the exchange rate at the counter is poor.Recommended
Jordan Pass waives the visa fee
If you buy a Jordan Pass online before traveling (70-80 JOD), the 40 JOD visa-on-arrival fee is waived — provided you stay at least 3 nights. You still get the visa on arrival, but you show the pass at immigration and pay nothing. It also includes entry to Petra, Jerash, and 40+ other sites. Worth it if you're visiting more than one major attraction.
Cash only at visa counter
The visa-on-arrival counter at Queen Alia Airport does not accept credit or debit cards. Bring 40 JOD in cash (or USD equivalent). ATMs are available after immigration, but you'll need the visa to get through. Don't get stuck.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Queen Alia International Airport (AMM)
After deplaning, follow signs to 'Visa on Arrival' counters before passport control. There are separate queues for visa purchase and immigration. Have your passport and cash ready.
2
Pay the visa fee
At the visa counter, pay 40 JOD (cash only). You'll receive a visa sticker. Keep the receipt — you may need it later.
3
Proceed to passport control
Hand over your passport with the visa sticker, your boarding pass, and any requested documents (return ticket, hotel booking). The officer will stamp you in. Typical wait: 5-15 minutes.
4
Collect luggage and exit
After passport control, head to baggage claim, then customs. There's usually no customs declaration for personal items. Exit into the arrivals hall.
