Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Visa on arrivalYou do not need to apply in advance; simply proceed to the visa-on-arrival bank counter after landing.
Available at Egyptian airports and land borders
Cyprus passport holders can obtain a single-entry tourist visa on arrival at designated ports of entry. The visa costs US$25 (or equivalent in EGP) and is valid for a stay of up to 30 days. Payment must be in cash (USD, EUR, or GBP accepted at most counters).Required
Passport validityCheck your passport's expiry date before booking; if it expires within 6 months of your arrival, renew it first.
Must be valid for 6 months beyond entry
Your passport must have at least 6 months of remaining validity from the date you arrive in Egypt.Required
Blank passport pagesCount the blank pages in your passport; if you have fewer than one, you may be refused entry.
At least 1 blank visa page
Your passport must contain at least one completely blank page (not endorsement pages) for the visa sticker.Required
Return or onward ticketWhile not always checked, having a printed or digital copy of your onward ticket avoids delays.
Proof of departure from Egypt
Immigration officials may ask to see a confirmed return or onward flight ticket showing you will leave Egypt within the visa-free period.Recommended
Proof of fundsCarry a mix of cash and cards; ATMs are widely available in cities.
Sufficient for your stay
You may be asked to show evidence of sufficient funds (e.g., cash, credit card, or bank statement) to cover your expenses during the stay. No fixed amount is specified, but a reasonable daily budget (e.g., US$50–100 per day) is advisable.Recommended
Arrival declarationYou do not need to fill out any online or paper arrival declaration.
Not required for Cyprus passport holders
No arrival declaration form is required for Cyprus citizens entering Egypt for tourism. Not required
E-visa applicationApplying for an e-visa in advance can save time at the airport, but it is not mandatory.
Optional alternative to visa on arrival
Cyprus passport holders may apply for an e-visa online before travel. The e-visa costs US$25 (single entry) and is processed within 3–7 business days. It allows a stay of up to 30 days and can be used at all airports and most land borders.Optional
Cash only for visa on arrival
The visa fee must be paid in cash (USD or EUR) at the bank counter before passport control. ATMs are available only after immigration. Bring exact change — $25 or €25 per person. Torn or old banknotes may be rejected.
30-day stay, extendable once
Your visa on arrival is valid for 30 days from the date of entry. You can extend it once for another 30 days at an immigration office. Overstaying incurs a fine of 100 EGP per day.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at the airport
After landing at Cairo, Hurghada, Sharm el-Sheikh, or Luxor, follow signs to 'Visa on Arrival' or 'Bank' before passport control. Do not go straight to immigration.
2
Buy the visa sticker
At the bank counter (usually right before passport control), pay the fee in USD or EUR. You'll receive a visa sticker. Some airports also have ATMs, but cash is faster.
3
Affix the sticker to your passport
Peel the sticker and place it on a blank page in your passport. Do not cover any existing stamps or the biodata page.
4
Proceed to passport control
Hand your passport (with the sticker) to the immigration officer. They may ask for your return ticket or hotel booking. Answer clearly. You'll get an entry stamp.
5
Collect luggage and exit
After passport control, collect your bags from baggage claim and walk through customs. Green channel if you have nothing to declare.
