What happens at the border

1
Apply for the e-visa online
Go to https://evisa.gov.mz/ and fill out the application. You'll need your passport details, travel dates, and a digital photo. Pay the fee online with a credit card. Processing typically takes 3-5 business days, so apply at least a week before your trip.
2
Print your e-visa approval
Once approved, you'll receive a PDF. Print it out — don't rely on your phone. You'll need to show it at check-in and at immigration in Maputo.
3
Arrive at Maputo International Airport (MPM)
After landing, follow signs to 'Immigration' or 'Passport Control'. Have your passport, printed e-visa, and return ticket ready. The officer will stamp your passport and let you through. The process is usually quick — 10-20 minutes if you have all documents.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After clearing immigration, pick up your bags and walk through customs. You may be asked to show your accommodation booking. Then you're free to enter Mozambique.
